  1. I always order a Hindu meal (Indian style curry meal) when I fly Cathay Pacific First/Business class as I find their food options not to be as good as Emirates, Etihad or Qatar Airways.

  7. Thanks for the great review on CX Biz Class. Last June I went Biz Class with em (Mel-HKG-Vancouver-JFK-HKG-Mel). Was happy with most except with the last leg back to Melbourne (inattentive cabin crew and mediocre meals). Thumbs up for their lounge facilities in HKG. The BA Galleries Lounge at JFK was definitely nothing to write home about!. QATAR Biz Class which I took from KL-Paris-KL in Aug 13 was incredible, still rave about that lounge at Doha Airport. Cheers!

  10. Have to agree with this, I fly Cathay business quite regularly from Sydney to other destinations via Hong Kong. The food is pretty awful these days, the crew members aren't very attentive (For me it's not a bad thing, most of the time I just want to sleep), Hong Kong lounge is very busy unless it's a midnight flight from Hong Kong back to Sydney, but by then they've stopped serving food (pretty sure around at 1030 or 11pm).

But then again, business class aren't that special anymore, especially with all these different frequent flyer programs, it's so in demand (considering there are 4 flights out of Sydney to Hong Kong), borderline makes redemption impossible at times (unless at least 6 months in advance)

  17. Great report as per usual! I'd tend to agree about Hong Kong airport. I recall spending quite a while trying to find the QF lounge a few years ago, then found some QF staff who also didn't know where it was. The signage was pretty poor! Pity about the service too as the CX crew were wonderful on my last two CX flights in J.

  18. Great Introduction, Dennis. I personally do agree that the crew of CX often got mixed reviews, depends on the batch of crews. I have been lucky to meeting some of the extraordinary crews from CX which maintain my expectations from them. However, being fly on regional J with them for numerous time, I do believe their product standard has a lot to catch up, don't get me wrong, the food actually still one of the best I have had in the sky, it's just the varieties are so limited and they are not that frequent changing their menus, especially for breakfast. I am trying QR long haul J in May and will see what QR can deliver on their J products.

  24. Hi Dennis. I have flown CX several times AKL/HKG/ROM and I think your review is spot on. The seat is great in the "new" business class but I too find the overall service underwhelming. Good review, well done. Cheers D.

  25. I must agree with you. Cathay level of service in Business Class has dropped so much. It is very disappointing.

  27. Sorry to hear your dissatisfaction with some of the products, while other products still remain at the top of the industry. I agree meals and personal service are not as up to date as Emirates and Qatar. While these airlines are owned by governments who is not afraid of investing heavily for their countries. Cathay Pacific as an independent business entity has a very high standard for service and quality, competing against with resourceful governments is not easy. However improvements will be made in the near future not only to remain competitive but as a brand based in Hong Kong to the people around the world. Thank you.

  29. I really like the fact you don't waste 5 to 10 minutes of your videos with the taxi/take-off/landing footage that so many other flight reviews do. A well put together review as always!

  31. You make the best airline product reviews – good editing, straight to the point and good camera work. I agree that the service in CX is very hit and mix. The seat is wonderful but Qatar I think is now the overall leader. I spent 40 hours in Qatar over a 10 day period recently and came away very impressed.

  38. I think you had a very unlucky experience. When I flew with Cathay Pacific from LHR to HKG the staff were very friendly and active towards me. I don't know if they were being nice because of the fact I am young, but overall they were very nice. Also on my flight there was a much broader menu with lots of food and drinks that were all very enjoyable. Anyways, great video as always! :)
