  2. Yay! Notification squad! Do you always take CX? (If you fly back a few times, you should take CX/Oneworld so that you can join the Marco Polo Club)
I take CX back and forth London and HK and you get to go to lounges if you are Marco Polo

  7. Always nice to visit Hong Kong. Last time I was there my connecting flight on Cathay Pacific to JFK was cancelled so the airline put me up in a hotel short walk from the airport. Immigration gave me an automatic 90 days visa. Contrast that with the German man who had to connect through mainland China without a visa but because he forgot to register they won't let him into China so he was deported. I wrote he should have gone through Hong Kong. Maybe he wanted to see the Forbidden City being he flew to Beijing?

  14. Hong Kong has an insane vibe – high finance, lots of English speakers, incomparable topography with mountains, islands, ocean, beaches, jungles etc, arguably the best food in the world, endless shopping, international vibe with expats from all over the world, buzz and energy of New York, traditions and influence of London, capital of Asian business, movie set quality of the streets, so many nooks and crannies to explore, very trendy to very traditional, best chefs in the world have restaurants there, heavy French influence etc. Hong Kong, London and New York are the three most exciting, most powerful, high energy cities in the world and they also happen to be the three finance capitals of the world, which attracts a certain crowd with sophisticated tastes.
